Fruits + Yogurt (A Quick & Easy Healthy Snack Idea)

I’ve been into “no-rice-for-dinner” diet policy for almost two weeks already since I really need to loose weight and trim down my body fat. To be honest, it is so hard for me to be consistent because i’m a “rice person” but thank God I was able to maintain my diet smoothly. But of course, I also don’t want to torture myself so I made Sundays my cheat day!

So here, I wanted to share my very own meal experiment specially made for fruit and yogurt lovers like me! This is super quick and easy, plus healthy!

image

Apple, orange, and bananas! You can also use any kinds of fruits you want.

image

Peel off the fruits and slice them into bite-size pieces.

image

Any kind of yogurt will do. I chose blueberry & strawberry flavor because it’s my favorite! (Pick a low fat or non-fat, by the way.)

image

I spread the yogurt all over as toppings. I did not mix the yogurt so that I could savor well its taste.

Just by looking at this photo, I know all of the yogurt lovers drooool! Haha! I swear its so yummy!

Here are some of the healthy benefits of Yogurt that I googled from MedicineNet:

  1. Yogurt can help fight gastrointestinal problems such as lactose intolerance, constipation, diarrhea, and colon cancer.
  2. Some of its probiotic strains may boosts immune system.
  3. It help prevent Osteoporosis.
  4. It reduces risk of Hypertension (High blood pressure).
  5. Yogurt can make you feel fuller. (This one works well for me. So diet maintained! Haha)

Read more of the benefits here.

I hope this idea will be helpful to most of you. Yummy na, healthy pa!

xoxo, AP

Lighthouse Resto + Bar Experience

Last Thursday, September 25, 2014 I went out to meet my best friends Coco and Bi. It was just a perfect day to catch up again since their day offs fall on the same day. The night before, Coco and I had a mini planning. Coco requested that if possible we will have a lunch in a resto or caffe wherein we had never tried dining before. So I suggested Lighthouse Resto + Bar and she agreed. It is located along Gen. Luna St. here in Iloilo City.

Just as good as their specialty menu called Lighthouse Wings. Yummy!!!

Coco and I picked Frozen Iced Tea while Bi go for Cookies ‘n Cream Shake.

And finally for our dessert, we tried this Lava Cake. It was so delicious like it literally melts in the mouth!

They have wide menu selection and I bet all of it taste good. It’s a bit pricey but worth it. We left with big smiles and satisfied tummies! We will definitely go back again! xx

Two weeks from now classes will already resume. So my sisters and I  decided to make the most of the remaining days of their summer vacation. Today we went food tripping at Icepot and spent the rest of the afternoon strolling at Iloilo river esplanade

My sisters Joann & Gie really love the Korean ambiance at Icepot.

Feature Recipe: Homemade Potato Salad

Hi there! Guess what?… This is my first ever blog post about food. Yup! And I’ll be sharing this healthy recipe I’ve learned from my mom. A Potato Salad! We cooked this late in the afternoon today. And I swear, it’s so yummy!!!

Here are the ingredients:

image
  • Common Yellow Potato
  • Red beets/Sugar beets
  • Celery
  • Mayonnaise
  • Pineapple Chunks

Procedures:

1. Peel off the potatoes and cut into bite size cubes.

2. Steam the potatoes using a steamer. Steam the yellow and red separately. (Tip: We chose to steam the potatoes instead of boiling to avoid it from being overcooked and to maintain the crunchiness of the red bits.)

3. Chopped finely the celery.

4. Open a can of pineapple chunks and drain.

5. Mix all the ingredients and put the mayonnaise. Mix well. (You may add a pinch of sugar if you want.)

(The color turned out pink because of the red beets.)

And it’s done! Chill and serve!
